Set up step by step
Connect your bank account
To collect your membership fees, Omoplata has to be able to talk to your bank. That runs over FinTS, the banking standard most German banks support.
Once the connection is set up, you can send SEPA direct debits to the bank straight from Omoplata and pull your account statements to match incoming payments to open invoices automatically.
Step 1: Record your SEPA creditor details
Before you connect to the bank, your creditor details have to be right -- they go into every direct debit you generate.
- Go to Settings > Billing and open the SEPA tab.
- Enter:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Creditor name | Your club's name as it should appear on the member's bank statement. |
| Creditor IBAN | The account the collected amounts land in. |
| Creditor BIC | Your bank's identification code. |
| Creditor ID | Your SEPA creditor identification number. In Germany the Bundesbank issues it -- without it you cannot collect by direct debit. |
- Save the section.
Not applied for your creditor ID yet?
You apply for the creditor identification number once, at the Deutsche Bundesbank. It usually takes a few days. Direct debit collection does not work without it -- so apply early.
Step 2: Set up bank access
- Stay under Settings > Billing and switch to the Bank access tab.
- Fill in the fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Bank URL | Your bank's FinTS endpoint URL. Your bank provides it. |
| Bank code | Your bank's sort code. |
| Username | Your online banking username. |
| Password | Your online banking password. |
- Click Save. You will be asked to set a security code. It encrypts your credentials and is requested for every banking operation.
- Omoplata then connects to your bank and fetches the available TAN methods and accounts. If the connection fails, nothing is saved and you get an error message.
Keep your security code safe
Omoplata does not store the security code and cannot recover it. If you forget it, you have to enter your bank credentials again and set a new code.
Step 3: Pick a TAN method and account
As soon as the connection is up, a second form appears:
- Pick your TAN method (pushTAN, chipTAN or SMS TAN, for example).
- Pick your TAN medium -- the device or phone number the TAN goes to.
- Pick the default account you collect through.
- Save.
You can change this selection at any time without re-entering your credentials.
Step 4: Test the connection
Fetch your account statement once before you rely on it:
- Go to Finance > Bank integration.
- Enter your security code.
- Trigger a statement fetch and confirm your bank's TAN prompt.
If your transactions come through, the connection is fine.
An error message from the bank?
FinTS reports problems with a numeric code. The most common ones -- blocked PIN, expired TAN, missing SEPA authorisation -- are listed with their fixes under Bank integration.

Next step
The connection is up -- now you still need to clear that your bank will actually let you collect: Clear your direct debit limit.
